Riptide interviews Jose Ugarte

Jose Ugarte, organizador do Peruvian Inka Challenge foi entrevistado pela Riptide Mag. Aqui vai as suas palavras com tradução para portugês:

"Este campeonato foi incrível. Tudo conspirou a ser como era.

No início nós não tinhamos sequer espaço para fazer um outro campeonato IBA, porque o calendário estava cheio. Após dois dias de ter um não como resposta, Jorge "Mutant" Saavedra, disse-me que o Shark Island Challenge foi retirado do calendário do IBA Tour. Então eu perguntei ao IBA novamente e tive um sim. Sendo Lima tão perto de Arica, todos viriam. E foi assim - Stewart, Botha, Hubbard, Hardy, Ben Player, Damian King, etc derrepente apareceu no olhos de todos. O groms não podia acreditar.

Então, vê-los (aos prós) competirem numa onda que não sabiam foi ainda mais emocionante. Sabendo que era uma boa onda e os melhores bodyboarders do mundo inteiro vinham surfá-la. Então, muita gente nunca viu na vida um pro bodyboarder enlouquecendo com as ondas. Os riders estavam com um alto desempenho.

Espero ser capaz de fazer este evento a cada ano, cada vez melhor, e deixar todo o mundo saber que o Peru tem um grande potencial de Bodyboard, tem de entrar em contato com as pessoas certas.

"This contest was amazing. Everything conspired to be like it was.

In the begining we didn´t even have space to do another IBA contest because the schedule was full. After two days of having the negative as an answer, Jorge "Mutant" Saavedra, told me that the Shark Island contest was cancelled for the IBA Tour. Then I asked the IBA again and got a possitive answer.Being Lima so close of Arica, everybody would come. And it was just like that - Stewart, Botha, Hubbard, Hardy, Player, King, etc suddenly appeared at the eyes of everybody. The groms couldn´t believe it.

Then seeing them (the pros) competing in a wave that they didn´t even know was even more exciting. Plus knowing that is was a great wave also, and the best bodyboarders in the entire world were riding it. So many people never saw in life a pro bodyboarder going crazy with the waves. Bodyboarding in a high expression, they burned! (We think he means, "The riders were on fire with their high performance riding." - Ed.)
